Panel and Cushion Mounting Clip Systems
Why You Need Fastmount® Panel Clips
Fastmount® mounting clips greatly simplify, streamline, and speed up the installation process of wall and ceiling panels.
- These clips and fasteners can be mounted to all common frame materials, including wood members, aluminum extrusions, cinder blocks, and drywall. They can also be mounted to stationary or non-flexing objects such as furniture and industrial equipment.
- Fastmount® panel clips support mounting rigid panels and cushion or textile “panels,” such as those used for soundproofing or decorative tapestry.
The clips are also interchangeable, creating a hidden fixing framework that permits expansion and flexing of the panels and support frame. We provide you with the appropriate installation tools for quality installation when you get our panel fasteners.
Mount Almost Anything
You can mount all kinds of materials with the proper Fastmount® panel clips, including:
- Wood panels
- Plywood
- Sandwich or composite panels
- Lightweight metal panels
- Plastic
- MDF
- Plastic
- Fiberglass

You can mount it with our panel fasteners if it’s not too heavy (e.g., stone slabs) or brittle. Check with our experts to specify the right clips. Our heavy-duty concealed fixing framework can handle panels that attach exterior materials.
Fastmount’s hidden fixing framework is suitable for application in projects like:
- Commercial and retail fit-outs
- Ceiling and acoustic panels
- Tiny home and modular building construction
- Joinery and upholstery work
- Furniture making
Critical Benefits Over Traditional Installation Approaches
- Our panel fasteners help you attain that perfect finish because the Fastmount® panel clips have uniform dimensions, allowing for perfect alignment of panels each time.
- You get a single system that supports different types of panels

FAQs
What are the different types of fasteners & clips for mounting wall and ceiling panels?
Sugatsune America offers Fastmount® panel clips which are one of the most convenient and popular options available. The Fastmount® panel mounting system is an innovative fastening solution using matching male and female clips to secure panels with precise alignment and no visible fixings. The product range spans Standard, Low Profile, Very Low Profile, Metal, Stratlock®, Textile, and Panel Control. These clips serve the architectural, marine, furniture, and recreational vehicle sectors among others.
Fastmount® systems are used by designers and architects around the globe because they enable quick installation, non-sequential removal, and durable performance in demanding environments.
With these clips, panels can be removed and refitted multiple times for maintenance, and if necessary, reconfigured to change their layout. Best of all, you can remove any panel without having to remove any other panel like you would when using Z-Clips.
Sugatsune America manufactures push-lock fasteners that are designed with a quick-release mechanism that allows you to easily remove panels or lock them into place. connection. Easy to operate, their functionality is defined by a push-to-close action. These fasteners lock into place once inserted. Some also include a push-button or turn-to-unlock action for easy release. That makes them ideal for use cases calling for frequent, tool-free access to panels.
How does the Fastmount® panel mounting system work?
The Fastmount panel mounting system works through a two-part clip mechanism consisting of male and female components. The male clip attaches to the substrate (wall, ceiling, or framework) using self-tapping screws, traditional screws, or adhesive methods. The female clip is installed on the back of the panel, creating a concealed mounting point.
When installing panels, the female clip simply slides over the male clip until it clicks into place, creating an immediate, secure connection. The clips are designed for specific weight loads and applications to ensure perfect alignment and a flush finish every time.
Panels can be removed quickly without tools in most cases. The unique design allows panels to be removed and replaced repeatedly without damaging the substrate or panels, and without weakening the connection.
What are the primary fastener & clip applications and use cases in architecture and interior design?
Sugatsune America fasteners and clips are vital in various architectural and interior design uses. They provide a sleek aesthetic and practical functionality:
- Architectural wall and ceiling cladding: Think large-scale commercial fit-outs such as hotel lobbies and retail stores. Do you have a residential project with a decorative feature wall? Our fasteners provide an uninterrupted surface, highlighting the beauty of your panels, whether they’re wood, metal, or composite.
- Acoustic panels: Reduce noise and improve sound quality in public spaces. Performance halls, restaurants, and recording studios are just some of the applications that benefit from the modular nature of clip systems. Simple installation and easy adjustment? A win for designers and detailers!
- Marine and aviation industries: Watercraft and aircraft have systems hidden behind panels for safety and efficiency. Quickly and easily remove panels for maintenance. Fastmount’s clips, for instance, are especially designed for the vibration and environmental conditions in these industrial settings.
Another key use case is in cushion and upholstery mounting. For seating and headboards, Sugatsune clip systems provide stable attachment to any fabric-covered parts. You can easily remove them for cleaning or reupholstering.
How many clips will I need for my large size panel?
Clip layout depends on a few factors. Panel Dimensions, Panel Weight, and Wall or Ceiling Mount. Use the clip layout guides on Page 12 of the Fastmount Brochure (https://www.sugatsune.com/content/page-files/product-literature/LIT-FASTMOUNT-2023.pdf)
Clip layout for standard or low profile ranges:
A vertical line of clips need to be installed along each panel edge, spanning the height of the panel. The vertical row starts at 4" (100mm) from top and bottom panel edge, then 1x clip set every 17-21/64" (440mm) along the vertical edge. Similarly, a horizontal row of clips will span the top panel and bottom panel. The row begins at 4" (100mm) in from each width edge, then a clip set is placed every 9/3/4" (250mm). When exceeding a panel width of 23-5/8" (600mm), a vertical row of clips will need to be installed to ensure a proper distribution of weight. Use the vertical clip placement of 1x clip set every 17-21/64"(440mm). These measurements may be altered for alternative panel dimensions. Maximum recommended panel dimensions 94-1/2"H x 47-1/4"W. Maximum panel weight: 88lbs.
Please refer to the accompanied clip layout recommendations for ceiling panels and small panels in the fastmount brochure.
Can I reduce the number of clips based on my panel's weight and pull-out load?
No. Fastmount’s clip layout recommendations are designed for even distribution of the clips, which creates an even distribution of weight, so that the panel is held securely and evenly to ensure a flawless appearance and ultimate panel safety.
Using too few clips or spacing them excessively may cause panels to sag slightly between clips, depending on panel stiffness. This compromises both visual appearance and safety performance.
Do I need any special tools to install Fastmount clips?
We have a variety of fastmount tools for purchase in our lineup. Using the fastmount brochure, once you have chosen the right clips for your project, navigate to the part number for each clip and see which tool is right for you. Page 13 of the fastmount brochure will describe the use of each tool.
Example: A common set of clips for use with wood substrates and wood material panels is the PC-F1A & PC-M1B. The self-tapping PC-F1A mounts into a 16.8mm (11-16") pilot hole and can be prepared with the CT-01 or a 3/8” carbide tipped bit. Use the CT-07 or an equivalent 3/8” step drill bit. You can tap the threads for the PC-F1A using the CT-15 thread tap bit, for more rigid materials such as fiberglass or aluminum. (Show PC-F1A image). Use the CT-03 bit to insert the clip into the substrate. You can use the CT-01 or a 3/8" carbide bit to drill the bore hole for the PC-M1B. To insert the male clip into the panel, use the CT-10 install tool.
We also have Yard Kits for purchase. These kits include all tools necessary for your clip installation categorized by profile range (Standard, Low, Very Low, etc.)
